This is all about consistency. They say they are just following the Bible. Well, to those people I say Follow the Bible. No more Red Lobster for you.
ReplyDeleteThe left, of course, has yet to use the Bible as an excuse for hate speech so their ignoring these things doesn't really constitute any inconsistency.
They tend to dodge the issue by saying the Old Testament laws were made obsolete when Jesus came on the scene. Of course, these are the same people saying those Old Testament commandments should be on display in our publicly-funded schools and courthouses. I don't know what makes them think the New Testament isn't just as obsolete, though.... good post!

Point taken, Hood. Yes, blue states enacted gay marriage bans. But as in all things, it really depends on how you ask the question. The amendment referenda were usually on defining marriage between a man and a woman. Sounds relatively harmless to me I guess. But the same guy who voted yes to the amendment might balk if you asked him, "do you want to prevent gays from ever getting married having power of attorney or visiting each other in the hospital etc."

ReplyDeleteRather, the book offers something for every occasion. As in, if you are an authority, and you want to do "x", then chances are the good book has a passage for you to help you mobilize the ignorant masses for your own purposes with some simple hate filled passage...
these comments are not fair: most christians are good citizens and know not such passages as these, as they largely follow the new testament.
